Joyce Waterhouse, Ph.D., founder and CEO of Inlet Health, brings an unusually broad scientific foundation to the challenge of personalized nutrition, spanning ecology, immunology, and microbiome research, with peer-reviewed publications in venues ranging from Ecological Monographs to the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences. Her vision for the NIK platform grew from over fifteen years of self-directed research into the physiological effects of food, long before consumer wearables made such monitoring widely accessible.

Her work spans municipalities, startups, and associations, where she combines strategy, community building, and hands-on execution. Known as both a doer and a speaker, she brings practical tools and energy that move teams forward.

Thomas Lie, PhD.
Scientific Advisor
Microbial Systems & Extreme Environment Specialist
Dr. Lie is a microbiologist with expertise in environmental microbiology, microbial genetics, and metabolism. His work focuses on microbes in extreme environments, including high-temperature and oxygen-free systems. He has led research on novel microbes, metabolic pathways, and microbial interactions, including nitrogen and sulfur cycles. Using advanced tools such as genomics and proteomics, he now advises on microbial detection, isolation, and interpreting metabolic pathways from genomic data.

Clinical Operations Advisor
Population Health & Care Management Systems
Douglas G. Sullivan is an experienced RN and Certified Case Manager with deep expertise in managed care, clinical program development, and population health strategy. He has trained over 10,000 primary care offices across California as a DHCS Certified Master Trainer and helped build HEDIS, Utilization Management, Case Management, and Compliance programs.
His work focuses on shifting healthcare from reactive visits to proactive, continuous care using remote patient monitoring and virtual care models. He now advises organizations on building and scaling integrated, digital-first care programs.
